Character Design: Monster

Piece 1 of 4 of a Layout and Character Design project back in school... that I later titled Under the Bed.


This is my unnamed monster, the first character I came up with for the concept. He's a fun guy.

His Story
Like in a few other cartoons I could probably name... there are good creatures and bad creatures. He is a good one that fights the bad ones... to keep them from human view. cliché, I know.
One Halloween eve, one of his busiest nights of the year, his world is flipped upside down when he accidentally gets careless and is spotted by a random little girl. (She claimed to be running away... the only reason she'd be out by herself at night. XD) The [rather young] little girl spots him in action-- fighting with a boisterous gang of local werewolves, which he handles fairly quickly.
Upon watching them run away with tails between their legs, he turns to leave-- only to almost step on this random little girl who immediately utters, "Wwwooooowwww!" and latches herself to him. : P
He tries to disappear and ditch the little human, but she just keeps following and finding him, giggling the whole time as if she thought he was playing with her. Annoyed at last, he attempts to scare her off, but she just stares at him and giggles even harder.
Giving up, he just tries to ignore her and go about his business; but the little girl, being a total brat, get angry and demands that the monster be her friend or "she'll tell."
Already having blown it in keeping his existence a secret, he had no choice but to comply-- once a human saw him, they couldn't be fooled again. And what would happen if this little girl went and told her friends? Her parents? A cryptozooligist?!?

About Him
So yeah. Now he's stuck with a bratty little girl who wants him to play tea party all the time, while hiding under her bed to avoid being spotted by anyone else... all while trying to do his nightly job of warding off wayward supernatural creatures.
He generally looks bored, depressed, or bothered... but he has his more dynamic moments occasionally, lol. He isn't mean, but he's dangerous when he has to be.
He doesn't talk... just makes random monster grunts or whatever-- but he's far from dim-witted. In fact, it was a side idea to make him secretly an intellectual, lol-- when the little girl isn't home he'll put on some spectacles and pull out Crime and Punishment... I think I might keep that part.
As for his namelessness... I'm debating whether the keep him nameless; give him a "monster" name; give him a smart-sounding human name to betray his monster stereotype; or have the little girl name him something stupid. Like "Pickles." >__<

Can't decide.... even after all these years, lol
